How it works
The whole run is time-bounded to ~10 seconds regardless of how fast your connection is. Latency / jitter — four quick pings; we drop the first (warm-up) and take the mean / standard deviation. Download — streams from speed.cloudflare.com/__down for 4.5 s, abort, then computes the steady-state throughput (slow-start ramp is excluded). Upload — POSTs random bytes to speed.cloudflare.com/__up for 4.5 s. Browser-based numbers are typically within ±15% of a native speed-test client.
