What is a public IP?
It's the address your ISP assigns to your modem/router — the one external servers see when you request a webpage. Behind a single public IP there can be many devices on a private LAN; NAT rewrites their private addresses (192.168.x, 10.x.x.x) onto the one public address.
If you're on a VPN or Tor, the IP you see here is the exit node's, not your home connection's. Mobile users on cellular often see CGNAT addresses — your carrier shares one public IP across many subscribers.
